Mark Canter, Director of Biologics Systems and Technology, Parsons Life Sciences Division - More than 25 years of experience in consulting, engineering design, and supply of modular process systems for domestic and international pharmaceutical and biologics clients. Most recently, his responsibilities included front-end engineering and turnkey supply of modular process systems.
Michael C. Flickinger, Ph.D., Professor of Microbiology; Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, North Carolina State University, and Associate Director for Academic Programs at BTEC. A consultant to biotechnology companies in the U.S. and Europe for more than 35 years.
Henry Lamb, Ph.D., Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, North Carolina State University - 21 years of teaching experience in chemical and biochemical reactor engineering. Key contributor to the process design, equipment specification and procurement, and start-up of the BTEC GMP biomanufacturing facilities.
Rick Lawless, Associate Director, Strategic Support, BTEC - More than 22 years of experience in the biotechnology industry, including 15 years in management of GMP production operations with Eastman Kodak, Johnson & Johnson, and Wyeth. He was central to the design, construction and start-up of BTEC.
Jeff Odum, Principal, NCBioSource - involved in the biopharmaceutical industry for more than 20 years with expertise in engineering design, construction, and plant operations. A nationally recognized author and speaker in the areas of regulatory compliance, facilities and process design, and project management for biopharmaceutical companies.
Richard Schoenfeld, Ph.D., Principal, BioWorks Consulting LLC - More than 30 years of industrial biotechnology experience at Genzyme, Merck KGaA and Monsanto. He is a recognized expert in the scale-up of mammalian cell culture. This experience includes process and facility design and the implementation of perfusion technology at 5000 liters.
John Sheppard, Ph.D., MBA, Professor, North Carolina State University - teaches intermediate scale biomanufacturing at BTEC; industrial microbiology and process validation in the Department of Food, Bioprocessing and Nutritional Sciences.
Mark Witcher, Ph.D., Consultant - biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry expertise in operational issues related to product development; strategic business development; clinical and commercial manufacturing planning; process development; technical transfer; organizational development; and facility design and construction.
