Education Program Committee

The Program Committee develops and implements the Chapter's programs. The programs are designed to address the interests and needs of Chapter members in pursuing their professional interests. The Committee's work forms the core of the Chapter's value to its membersl.

The Committee is headed by the Vice President of the Chapter. The Committee will guide the program topics for the program year; identify and recruit program speakers; select sites; identify and coordinate tours; assist with programs the day of the event; monitor and report of program; and brainstorm program improvement.

Typically Chapter Board members are the program managers for a particular program offering, although other professionals may serve as program managers. The Program Manager is assisted by the Program Assistant, which can be any ISPE member but typically will be volunteers from the Program Committee.

The Program Committee is a great way to network, meet thought leaders in their fields, and have fun at the same time! The success of the Chapter for the program year depends on the dedication and work of this Committee.

We are currently producing two types of programs, Talking Shop and Educational Seminars. Talking Shop programs have an interactive round table format where members can learn from technical professionals and one another, discuss new technologies, share experiences, concerns, and problems.and share "real world" solutions with their colleagues. The topics are focused on single subjects/issues such as operational or project challenges. All are expected to contribute to the discussion and have issues or experience on the topic. The attendance at these programs will be smaller at about 30 to 60 people. Talking Shop programs are experienced based, and significantly more interactive than our traditional lecture type program.

Educational seminars consist of lectures that are delivered on set topics by industry knowledgeable people. The topics tend to be high in level of detail, and may span a wide range in subject matter such as regulatory, quality, engineering, projects, development, validation, utilities, and facilities. These programs are typically limited to 2 to 3 presenters. A question and answer period will usually follow. The attendance at these programs runs from 60 to 120 attendees.
