- Conference or Annual Meeting - Main title to designate an entire event.
- Seminar
- Within CE Conference or Annual Meeting are seminars focused on one-topic area.
- Length is one-day or longer. In-depth materials supplied.
- Session
- Within the CE Conference or Annual Meeting are sessions.
- Shorter than a seminar (less than one day). Typically focused on a specific area.
- Workshop
- Within the CE Conference or Annual Meeting can be workshops.
- These are also short duration (typically one to five hours).
- The difference from a session is a workshop will be highly interactive, limited lecture.
The ISPE Education Committee developed preliminary topics and descriptions for these conferences. Leaders need to be subject matter experts in their topic of interest, and commit a few hours a week over a four to six month time period before the conference to help ISPE develop the educational programming.
Leader applications will be reviewed by the ISPE North American Education Committee. Two leaders - one representative from a pharmaceutical equipment supplier, and one from a pharmaceutical manufacturer - will be chosen for each seminar topic. If the Committee selects you as a leader for a topic, you may be matched with a co-leader.
Leaders will:
- Develop the "vision" for their seminar via outline (build and design the seminar based on committee suggestions).
- Recruit speakers and review speaker applications for the seminar.
- Communicate with speakers to ensure progress of content and technical accuracy.
- Refine/enhance proposed seminar learning objectives and ensure speaker presentations meet those objectives.
- Work with an educational advisor on technical content, and an instructional design document to meet ISPE's education quality standards.
- Chair conference calls (number depends on need) to inform speakers on content, meeting agenda and logistical needs.
- Attend the leader/speaker briefing at the conference site before the event starts.
- Attend, moderate and introduce speakers at the seminar.
