![]() Affiliate NewsFirst ISPE Indonesia Affiliate Annual Conference The inaugural of the ISPE Indonesia Affiliate Annual Conference took place at JCC Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia from 7–8 April 2008. The conference was very well-received by over 230 participants from both the pharmaceutical industry and government agencies, as the topics covered current trends in the industry. Djoko Sujono, President, ISPE Indonesia Affiliate opened the conference with a short address. This was followed by a plenary session during which Sujono and other industry experts such as Gordon Farquharson, BSc (Hons), CEng, Principal Consultant for Bovis Land Lease, Lucky S. Slamet, Deputy For Therapeutic Products, Narcotics, Psycotropic and Addictive Substance Control, Indonesian Food and Drug Administration (BPOM) and Ferry Soetikno, Head of Industry Section, Indonesian Pharmaceutical Association, presented to the attendees. Djoko Sujono opened the inaugural Gordon Farquharson addresses participants The rest of the conference was divided into two concurrent tracks: Water Systems for the Pharmaceutical Industry and Current Issues in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Participants attending the first track were treated to a variety of topics on the types of water and steam used in the industry and the design requirements, purification techniques, and real-world case studies on improvement of existing systems. Some of the speakers who took the stand during Track I were Gordon Farquharson, Retno Tyas of BPOM and Herny Prasetya, Vice President, ISPE Indonesia Affiliate. A good turnout of participants at ISPE Indonesia Affiliate’s First Annual Conference Participants who attended the second track were given an introduction to preparing for BA/BE study, and updated on current trends in the pharmaceutical industry and Pharmacovigilance in Indonesia by industry experts such as Ratna Sosialin, M. Sumarno, Dr. Arini Setiawati, Yuliarti Merati, Dr. James Hariadi and Sri Sayekti. Table top exhibitors were also present at the conference, showcasing the latest systems and tools in water distribution, bioequivalent laboratories and various other equipment and machines.
