Student Members Flock to ISPE Puerto Rico Chapter’s Leadership Forum

ISPE’s Puerto Rico Chapter held its Third Annual Student Leadership Forum in the Dominican Republic on 18 April, 2009. The gathering was the largest forum to date and included more than 200 Student Members from the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo, Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo, and Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña.

The event took place on the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo campus and was officially opened by Miguel Pérez, Past President of the Puerto Rico Chapter, and the UASD Rector, Dr. Franklin Garcia Fermin. Speakers from Edwards Lifesciences, Covidien, Lab. Magnachem, and the Puerto Rico Chapter presented on how to write an effective resume, how to prepare for a job interview, and what leadership characteristics employers look for in a new hire.

Networking exercises rounded out the program, along with a moving tribute to Lic. Hilda Aristy Escuder who passed away recently. Mrs. Aristy was the first ISPE Member in the Dominican Republic and the founder of the Organizing Committee.
