Pfizer Named Pharmaceutical Company of the Year by ISPE

(TAMPA, FLORIDA, USA, 14 NOVEMBER 2007) – ISPE, a global not-for-profit association of 25,000 pharmaceutical manufacturing professionals, honored Pfizer Inc. as the Company of the Year and recognized its contributions to the pharmaceutical industry and the Society.

Robert P. Best, ISPE’s President and CEO, presented the honors on 6 November at the Society’s 2007 Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

“This year’s recipient has been one of the Society’s strongest supporters in 2007 and for many years prior,” said Best. “They have generously encouraged the participation of many of their employees on ISPE international and Affiliate/Chapter committees both as Members and Chairs, and have heavily supported the Society in our quest to be a Catalyst for Change for the Industry. “

Jim Spavins, one of the Task Team leaders for ISPE’s Product Quality Lifecycle Implementation (PQLI) initiative, a member of ISPE’s International Leadership Forum, and Vice President of Global CMC at Pfizer, accepted the award on Pfizer’s behalf.

Damian Greene, Director/Team Leader API Operations Team with Pfizer, and also a newly-elected member of the ISPE Board of Directors for the 2007-2008 term, was also on hand for the award presentation.

"ISPE provides a unique forum for Pfizer colleagues to work in partnership with industry colleagues and regulators, on a global basis, to advance the process technologies and quality systems for manufacture of our pharmaceutical products," said Greene.
