General Summary
The position is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the company by working with the Executive Management Team to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies for the Member Relations unit. The position is responsible for delivering valuable services that anticipate, support and are responsive of members needs. The ultimate goal will be to increase membership retention and growth, increase members’ benefits, improve the volunteer experience, attract new volunteers, grow affiliates worldwide, and ensure there is a strong value proposition for the members.
This position oversees professional staff and partners with Society volunteers focusing on membership relations, chapters and affiliates, communities of practice, professional certification programs and volunteer management.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Lead a diverse network of professional staff and volunteers from across the globe to implement best member relations practices and programs at an international as well as local level.
- Work with the Director of Communities of Practice to integrate COP activities to chapters and affiliates.
- In conjunction with the Resource Analysis Task Team, develop and implement a volunteer management plan.
- Work with the Director of Chapters and Affiliates in evaluating all global and local assets to redesign the current approach to better serve the membership.
- Support the development of affiliates and chapters globally.
- Work with the Director of Membership Services to improve retention and increase membership according to Business Plan goals by developing innovative programs and benefits.
- Provide leadership in developing programs for underdeveloped segments of the membership.
- Continually monitor and improve the quality of ISPE’s members programs internationally.
- Work with the Director of Professional Certification to create awareness of the importance of the certification program in the industry, government regulatory agencies, and academia.
- In conjunction with the President and the Director of Marketing Communication, develop and implement marketing strategies for all ISPE member offerings to obtain optimum market penetration.
- Collaborate with the various Committees, Advisors and the ISPE offices in Europe and Asia Pacific to establish strong membership programs and initiatives.
- In conjunction with the President and Vice President of Administration/CFO, develop and implement the annual budget for all ISPE member relations initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned by the President.
Job Requirements
Education and work experience:
- At least 10-15 years of membership management/marketing experience with demonstrable success in developing innovative membership programs.
- Bachelor’s degree required, Masters Degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years supervisory experience required.
Skills and knowledge:
- Must have demonstrated ability to plan, create and grow new initiatives based on strategic assessment.
- Must have demonstrated strong leadership skills in a volunteer driven association.
- Must have problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
- Outstanding communication skills necessary.
- International association exposure preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel (10% or less).
- Proven ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrates professional ethics and demeanor at all times.
