Sokhorn Yim has worked at Genentech as a process development engineer for six years, and currently works in the Pharmaceutical and Packaging Engineering (PPE) group. She is presently leading a study of residual levels of Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide (VHP) in isolators and its effects on biotech products. Yim is also investigating blow fill seal technology for protein-based drug products; researching bench scale stopper moisture detection for lyophilized products, and assisted with the evaluation of aseptic time pressure filling system selected for the Hillsboro Fill Finish Facility. Before joining Genentech, Yim worked as a Validation Engineer with Advent Engineering, and prior to that she spent four years at Chiron as a Process Development Engineer, working extensively in the areas of in-process quality control, down-stream purification, and up-stream fermentation. In this role, she led tech transfer projects and developed scale up of purification processes from small to manufacturing scale. Yim received both a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Oregon State University (OSU) and a B.S. degree in chemistry from Pacific Lutheran University (PLU).
