Cindy Lawton

Cindy Lawton is an ergonomist and orthopedic physical therapist with over twenty-five years of clinical experience. She graduated from Stanford University with her Masters degree in physical therapy and she has a biology degree from Ithaca College. She presently is working at Los Alamos National Laboratory as the SME for glovebox ergonomics and has trained over 400 glovebox operators in glovebox ergonomics. Lawton has been a leader across the country implementing a program to help reduce glovebox injuries. She has presented at the American Glovebox Society conference yearly since 2005 and to the Department of Energy medical directors. She is presently s the lead author for the guideline on glovebox ergonomics which will be published shortly by the AGS. Lawton’s past includes: Owning a private practice, working at a world renown Los Angeles clinic that treated professional athletes (LA Lakers, Dodgers, Rams, Kings), University of Delaware faculty member, consultant at various companies including Germfree , Playtex, PP&G, and has published in peer review journals. She was a board member of the New Mexico Physical Therapy Association for ten years. She also was the first Certified Orthopedic Specialist in New Mexico and was honored with the award of New Mexico PT of the year in 2001.
