Brian Pochini is a Principal Engineer working in the Genzyme Global Engineering Department. Brian has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering; a Master’s in Business Administration and is a Certified Pharmaceutical Industry Professional (CPIP). Brian has more than 13 years’ practical experience within biotechnology, membrane manufacturing/development and custom chemical industries. Brian has a diverse background encompassing multiple engineering discipline functions including HVAC, Critical Utilities, Process Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls, and Facility Design. He has experience in all project phases, including conceptual design, preliminary engineering, detailed engineering, equipment procurement, construction, facility and equipment start-up, and commissioning and qualification activities. Major projects have included an ultrafiltration membrane casting plant, a large-scale biologics manufacturing facility, a biologics support center and a large GMP warehouse. Additionally, his project management experience includes the simultaneous management of multiple capital projects and cross-functional team management, all resulting in successful project completion based on schedule, budget and customer satisfaction. He is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and ISPE and is a member of ISPE C&Q Steering Committee and ISPE Critical Utilities Steering Committee.
