Jerry Bussell has more than 30 years experience with high-growth companies at various levels. He has served as director of manufacturing operations, senior director, managing director and vice president during domestic and international plant start-ups and initial public offerings. He has worked for divisions of Kraft Inc., Allergan Inc., Bristol Myers Squibb, and Medtronic Inc. Mr. Bussell recently retired from Medtronic Surgical Technologies as vice president of operational excellence. He is currently, president of Bussell Lean Associates LLC. and the executive advisor for Underwriters Laboratories Center of Continuous Improvement and Innovation. Mr. Bussell is the founder and past chairman of the Jacksonville Lean Consortium. He has served as the chairman of the Board of Governors of the Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence. Mr. Bussell was inducted into the Shingo Academy for his outstanding contributions to operational excellence. He received the prestigious Wallin Leadership award for leading the lean transformation within Medtronic ENT"s manufacturing operation. Under Mr. Bussell's leadership, Medtronic ENT was awarded one of Industry Week's Best Plants in North America in 2002 and was a recipient of the Shingo Prize in 2003. Mr. Bussell has published a book on lean leadership called Anatomy of a Lean Leader as Illustrated by 10 Modern CEOs and Abraham Lincoln which has received the Shingo Publication Award.
