Scott Smith, Vice President of Global Marketing and Development, Hartness International, is responsible for brand growth across Hartness' product portfolio, as well as the development of targeted vertical and geographic markets around the world. Scott began his career in the consumer packaged goods industry nearly 20 years ago with the Coca-Cola Company. In 1997, he joined Hartness International, one of the industry's leading manufacturers of packaging equipment and systems solutions. In his 16 year career with Hartness, Scott has held numerous technical sales, innovation and market development roles in North America and around the world. In 2009, after Hartness was acquired by Fortune 500 conglomerate ITW, Scott was charged with brand creation and market development for ITW's Global Packaging Solutions Group. This platform includes both packaging and warehouse automation solutions. The development of BRIC markets, with a heavy focus on India and Brazil, has become a key objective for Scott and his team. Recently, Scott had the opportunity to shepherd one of ITW's Corporate Innovation programs, The Refresh Project. The year-long project was charged with discovering unidentified and unmet needs for the North American beverage market in order to ensure an "outside-in", market-driven approach to innovation and acquisition. Scott is heavily involved in both the packaging industry and in his local community, having served on leadership committees for the Packaging Machinery Manufacturing Institute (PMMI), North America's largest trade association for machinery manufacturers. He has been active in the Kellogg School of Management Innovation Network (KIN) and serves on the Board of Directors for Public Education Partners in Greenville County, SC. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, Scott resides in Greenville, South Carolina, with his two children.
