Mark Varney has been involved in the application of statistics to quality control, R&D, engineering, and manufacturing at Abbott for over 30 years. He has worked on a wide variety of problems at Abbott in many areas, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and nutritionals. Areas of specialization include quality assurance sampling, design of experiments, statistical process control, and quality improvement. In addition, Mark has taught many courses and seminars in statistics for both Abbott and outside organizations. Mark has worked at the plant, division, and corporate levels, and is currently Statistics Program Manager for Abbott Quality and Regulatory. He has a Master’s degree in statistics from Penn State University and is an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
