Water Conservation in Pharmaceutical Water

Brian Severson

The presentation will begin with an overview of tools to track water use to help determine areas for the greatest water saving impact. The presentation will then review common and innovative approaches to water conversation techniques within water treatment operations (e.g. softeners, reverse osmosis, and distillation), distribution systems, production areas, and utility systems commonly found in pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. Finally, the presentation will cover potential issues surrounding the implementation of water saving initiatives within a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The presentation will focus on water conservation techniques for existing facilities. However, attendees will be able to apply the techniques from the presentation to the design requirements of water systems within new facilities.
