Highlights of the EAC and EEC Meeting at ISPE Strasbourg Conference
This September, the ISPE European Affiliates Council (EAC) and the European Education Committee (EEC) got together at ISPE Strasbourg Conference to discuss the current and future activities of the Society that are of interest to all ISPE Members.
In their discussion regarding the coming year’s activities and business plan, the EAC highlighted the importance of bringing more focus to individual Members and the benefits they gain through the Society. Particular attention was placed on young professionals to ensure that ISPE continues to proactively engage them as a specific audience, and respond to their needs. Changes have been made to the committee structure to reflect this focus, as a newly formed Young Professionals Committee brings together the efforts of former committees working with students and university relations.
Other topics discussed by the EAC included the creation of an asset integration team that will work to create better coordination between COPS, Affiliates, and the International bodies. Also, the new Affiliate Charters approved by the Board of Directors that will be ready for the beginning of 2010 were presented. They are in line with the Society needs and by-laws and incorporate a balance of feedback from all global Affiliates and Chapters.
Relating to education, in their meeting, the EEC discussed the demand from the European Conference attendees to learn from case studies in the industry, as well as the importance of developing sessions offered in the workshop format. Specific to the upcoming ISPE Milan Congress, the program was discussed to determine the optimal offering consisting of topic-specific knowledge, regulatory information, keynote sessions, site visits, and more.
