Each year during the Annual Membership Luncheon, ISPE pays tribute to exceptional efforts put forth by
Volunteers through special recognition as determined by ISPE’s Executive Council. Those recognized include
individual Volunteers, Affiliates and Chapters, Students, and the company of the year.
2010 ISPE Awards
The
Max Seales Yonker Member of the Year Award honors the person judged to have made significant
contributions to the Society during the past 12 months.
The 2010 recipient is Tracy Clemmer. Clemmer was awarded this
honor due to her involvement with the rapidly-growing China Affiliate.
The Richard B. Purdy Distinguished Achievement Award honors a Member for years of
dedicated service to the Society.
The 2010 recipient is Joan Gore, RPh (pictured with Andre
Walker, left, and Alan MacNeice, right) Gore was named the winner in recognition of her 10 years of active
service to ISPE, including taking the lead on efforts to globalize the North-American-based Clinical
Materials Committee and the European-based Investigational Medical Products Group into one Investigational
Products Community of Practice (COP), which has become one of ISPE’s most successful COPs under her leadership.
The Joseph X. Phillips Professional Achievement Award honors an ISPE Member who has made a
significant contribution to the Industry. It is named in honor of Joe Phillips, longtime supporter of ISPE
and a leader in establishing the Society as an “integrator” of industry and regulators.
The 2010 recipient is Jerry Roth, PE. Roth received this
award in part due to his involvement as a past Volunteer leader of the Society and due to his efforts as a
professional staff member to establish the Certified Pharmaceutical
Industry Professional™ (CPIP™) certification program.
The Roger F. Sherwood Article of the Year Award honors excellence in contributions to
ISPE’s magazine, Pharmaceutical Engineering

The 2010 recipients are Judy Samardelis (above left) and Winnie Cappucci
(above right) for their article titled “Applied Quality Risk Management Case Study: Laboratory Computerized
Systems” (

The Committee of the Year Award honors one of ISPE’s approximate 50 committees, councils,
task teams, and COP steering committees for outstanding work done in support of fellow ISPE Members and the
industry. ISPE’s 2010 Committee of the Year is the Risk-MaPP Task Team. The Risk-MaPP Task
Team was honored for their dedicated efforts to create the ISPE
Baseline® Guide: Risk-Based Manufacture of Pharmaceutical Products (Risk-MaPP), which
advocates a holistic approach to the current hot-button topic of developing a scientific, risk-based strategy
for managing the risk of cross-contamination.

The Affiliate of the Year Award honors outstanding work by one of ISPE’s 25 Affiliates in
North and South America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
ISPE’s 2010
Affiliate of the Year is ISPE Spain. Sergio Torralbo Jimenez, Chair, Spain Affiliate, is pictured
accepting the award. ISPE Spain was honored for outstanding work as reflected by membership development and
services, management, industry and Society support, and innovation.
The Student Chapter of the Year Award honors ISPE’s top Student Chapter for outstanding
efforts and hard work managing the Student Chapter.
ISPE’s 2010 Student Chapter of the Year is North Carolina State
University Student Chapter. Brandon Berry, President, North Carolina State University Student
Chapter, and Amy Lineberry, Student Affairs Chair, Carolina-South Atlantic Chapter, are pictured accepting
the award.
The Company of the Year Award honors a company that has been one of ISPE’s strongest
supporters over the years, and in particular during the last 12 months.
ISPE’s 2010 Company of
the Year is Eli Lilly. Eli Lilly was honored for its strong commitment with 210 ISPE Members
worldwide, 64 of whom are active Volunteers, and 37 of which attended the 2010 Annual Meeting.
The North American/South American Affiliate Council Chapter Excellence Program
honors excellence and innovation for ISPE’s 16 North American Chapters.
