Zena Kaufman serves as Hospira’s senior vice president of Quality. In this role, she has overall responsibility for Hospira's global quality systems, ensuring that the organization advances its global quality and compliance strategies, drives the continuous improvement of established quality procedures to ensure that processes and products meet high internal standards and regulatory requirements, and ultimately delivers high-quality, cost-effective products to customers. Kaufman, a recognized global expert in pharmaceutical quality systems, served on the Expert Working Group for ICH Q10, Pharmaceutical Quality Systems and has held leadership positions within PhRMA and the Parenteral Drug Association, where she is the Leader for the Inspection Trends Interest Group.. Prior to Hospira, she served as divisional vice president, Global Quality Systems, Global Pharmaceutical Operations, for Abbott Laboratories. Her carreer started at Alza Corporation as a bench quality control chemist and followed with various roles of progressive responsibility in the quality organizations Wesley-Jessen, Searle, Pharmacia and Pfizer. Kaufman earned her bachelor's degree in biology, with a chemistry minor, at Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY), New York City. She earned her master's of science degree in marine environmental sciences at the State University of New York (SUNY), Stony Brook.
