The Joseph X. Phillips Professional Achievement Award honors an ISPE Member who has made a significant contribution to the Industry. It is named in honor of Joe Phillips, longtime supporter of ISPE and a leader in establishing the Society as an “integrator” of industry and regulators.

The 2015 recipient is George P. Millili, PhD

Throughout his 38 year career, George has focused on building a strong relationship between regulators and industry to collaboratively tackle the issues both face.  He is regarded as a leader amongst his peers for his technical expertise, energy and enthusiasm as well as his inclusive and collaborative style. The Max Seales Yonker Member of the Year Award honors the ISPE Member who has made the most significant contribution to the Society during the past year. It is named in honor of a dynamic lady who contributed to the Society in many different ways and served as a source of inspiration during her battle with cancer.

The 2015 recipient is Alan S. Levy

Alan has worked tirelessly to serve the needs of the local Membership as Chapter President this past year. During his term as President, the Chapter experienced its most successful term in 7 years and its largest Vendor Expo event. Alan also led the Chapter’s involvement in the 2015 Annual Meeting planning and is leading innovative initiatives to better serve Members locally and internationally.

Alan is one of ISPE’s greatest advocates as he personally recruits Members, mentors students and young professionals and encourages enthusiastic Members to volunteer.

Novartis has been supporting ISPE for many years through Membership and volunteerism. This year, company leadership indicated a desire to increase company involvement in the organization and Novartis now has over 400 employees that are ISPE Members. Novartis was also a supporting sponsor of the ISPE/FDA/PQRI Quality Manufacturing Conference this year. The company continues to support ISPE through its many employees serving as key Volunteers throughout the organization.

The Committee of the Year Award honors one of ISPE’s committees, councils, task teams, and CoP Steering Committees for outstanding work done in support of fellow ISPE Members and the industry.

The 2015 Committee of the Year is the Quality Metrics Core Team.

In the past year, the Quality Metrics Core Team designed and undertook an extensive Pilot Program to test the feasibility of collecting and reporting a standardized set of quality metrics.

The team used this Pilot to refocus the industry-regulator dialog on objective data and throughout the Pilot, the team cultivated open and collaborative communication with the FDA Metrics Team.

The unparalleled experiential knowledge that the Quality Metrics Core Team is contributing to this effort is helping industry and regulators understand which metrics have the greatest potential to help companies reliably produce high quality drug products without extensive regulatory oversight.

The Affiliate and Chapter Excellence Award recognizes the outstanding work of the International Affiliates and Chapters as reflected by membership development and services, management, industry and society support, and innovation.

This Year, the Committee recognized three teams, the Delaware Valley Chapter, New Jersey Chapter and Italy Affiliate.

The Delaware Valley Chapter has done a tremendous job in their role as Annual Meeting host Chapter. The Chapter has approached the partnership with ISPE International very professionally and has been a strong, reliable partner in planning this event.

Chapter members were involved in multiple aspects of the event and their knowledge of the local market was an extremely valuable asset in the planning process.

In addition to this work, the Chapter continues to deliver robust programs for their local Members, including their annual Vendor Night, educational programs and social activities.

The New Jersey Chapter has continued to develop a consistent slate of well-attended educational and social events since its incorporation as ISPE’s first Chapter in 1989. The Chapter often collaborates with neighboring Chapters and ISPE Communities of Practice to create its programs.

The Chapter has focused on fulfilling the needs of local members with effective Board leadership, a solid succession plan, grooming of future leaders and an Executive Advisory Committee. The Chapter also continues to develop future leaders through strong student chapter and young professionals programs. Chapter leaders firmly believe in Society involvement and work with companies in their territory to recruit Members and volunteers.

The Affiliate has also done an outstanding job at promoting ISPE Membership by leveraging relationships with other associations in the life sciences industry. Additionally, past and current leaders of the Italy Affiliate remain active in ISPE International, serving in varying volunteer roles throughout the organization.
