Darin joined Eli Lilly & Company in 1987 after receiving an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. His initial assignment was as a Process Design Engineer in Corporate Engineering in Indianapolis Indiana. He moved to Lilly Clinton Laboratories in Clinton Indiana in 1990 where he had a series of department head assignments in Pharma API Production, Environmental Controls and Plant Engineering. He returned to Indianapolis in 1995 where he had assignments as Engineering Director, then Production Director in Insulin API Manufacturing. In 1999, he relocated to Liverpool UK and assumed the role of General Manager Lilly Speke Operations, a fermentation and biotech manufacturing site for human and animal health products. Darin returned to Indianapolis in 2001 as first Plant Manager, Human Insulin Operations and then General Manager, Insulin API Operations. Darin then had assignments as Executive Director, Global Process and Maintenance Engineering and Six Sigma Champion for Global Manufacturing and Quality before assuming the role of Vice President, Corporate Engineering and Continuous Improvement in 2007. In this role, he was responsible for global engineering, maintenance, capital project delivery and facilities management activity. In 2014, he incorporated the Global Health, Safety and Environment function into his existing responsibilities. He assumed his current role of Senior Vice President, Global API and Dry Product Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement in late 2016. In this role, he is responsible for global internal and external API and Dry Products manufacturing activity encompassing Small Molecule, Large Molecule (E. coli and moAb), OSD and Packaging platforms.
